I hope the reason the refreshed Model Y was postponed is because Tesla is now planning a more significant refresh than the Model 3 got. Considering the Model Y essentially kept Tesla alive as the top seller, it deserves more significant changes.

I ordered a M3LR on 6/18 as soon as I found out it qualified for the tax credit. Delivery was estimated as “July/August”. Three days later, an advisor called me from a Tesla store 200 miles further away than the one my car was to be shipped to and said he just saw that they have a car identical to my build en route to their store that should be available in a WEEK and if I wanted it and was willing to drive there to get it, they’d assign it to me. I, obviously, said DEFINITELY! I then asked him what had changed with the M3LR to make it eligible for the credit and he said he didn’t know… that Tesla hadn’t told them anything. I then asked if he could tell me what battery cells the pack was made from in my car. He said “great question… let me see if I can find out” and he started digging into it and somehow found it in the system after several minutes and said “Yep… Panasonic 2170’s”. This certainly backs up your theory about them reallocating the Panasonic 2170’s to Model 3’s to get them to qualify. Bottom line… I got the credit and I have a delivery appointment in less than 4 days! My first Tesla… so jacked!

Elon got his pay raise, so who cares about the customers or workers if the cars don’t sell.

Do you expect they will offer lower rates for the model Y again soon?

Not everybody is qualified for the tax credit.

I have contacted Tesla in terms of buying a model Y. They refuse to tell me what type of battery is in the car that I’m ordering . This is ridiculous. It’s my money, not theirs. I don’t understand how it can’t be against the law for them to not tell you what you’re paying for. I like Teslas, but the arbitrary and whimsical decisions that Musk makes are just asinine. We are supposed to be a land of laws which protect the consumer from this bait and switch sales practices. The DOJ and the Federal Trade Commission should be taking these issues to investigation and if warranted levying appropriate charges.

What if you have already purchased the Model 3 LR 3 months ago which is now a qualifying tax credit vehicle. Will I still be eligible?

I have a M3 LR delivered in Feb ‘23. It has 358 miles of range, I think it’s the LG battery. Will Tesla sell an upgrade to the LG batteries to more range? They also have the $2000 0-60 upgrade to bargain with. Trust me, it involves money, for Prince Elon.

RETROACTIVE! The differences between YAH or NAH on Tax credits is the following - Tesla is using Panasonic and LG batteries. That's basically the reason. It is a cost savings for Tesla and now Customer will choose options if they are eligible - take the TAX credit car and if not eligible, then take the non-tax credit one.

Is it true that Tesla takes the $7500 off the price of the car and you don't get $7500 back at tax time?

I'm sure they're sitting on a mile high amount of these Chinese and Korean batteries, and they're trying to figure out a way to purge the inventory. which again at the end of the day. if you're leasing, I don't think it's a big deal. Good for Tesla

those without tax credit may be used? 2023 models could be repossed?. In that case there is a $4000 used credit on first time sold used car . Is it not eligible because of the batteries. really?

LG batteries = Worse charging curve and historically higher risk of failure than for the Panasonic batteries.

We need to get rid of all tax credits, first all these companies are using them to hide the fact the car is really expensive, second there’s no incentive to lower the actual price, third it’s bonkers to try to navigate for the average buyer, finally many of the people who will buy these cars won’t qualify anyway.

Tesla needs more service / delivery / collision centers. You should not have to drive over an hour or two or leave the state to get your vehicle repaired. Northern Indiana is a Tesla desert with the closest collision centers in the Chicago suburbs. Superchargers are spaced out. Delivery centers should also be spaced out.

Why has there been such a long delay to updating or refreshing the Model S and X interiors with the new ambient lighting. Many people are holding off buying a new Model S or X while waiting for the new features. Why the slow roll out ? The focus on FSD is great but the cars need timely updates to their features. The slow roll out hurts sales. New features need to be rolled out promptly and not dragged out. The lack of focus on the Model S and X is hurting volume sales. All the costs for research, development and amortization of manufacturing equipment for the S and X should be written off by now. It is time to lower the prices of the Model S and X to reflect the reduced costs and increase sales volume. Glad to see the price drop by $2000 Should be more like $5000 drop. You need to be able to pick a desired exterior color and interior color and still be eligible for the IRA $7500 tax cut. Missing out on the $7500 tax cut because you chose to pick an exterior ($1500) and interior color ($2000) is just crazy.

Lots of older demo models released for sale that don't qualify. For those over the income to qualify for the tax break, these make sense.

I don’t qualify for the tax credit as I work in a high wage market. However, if I purchased a Tesla, I would have an instantaneous loss of up to $7500 as no one who qualifies for the tax credit would want to purchase the car from me for what I pay for it since they can get the $7500 discount directly from Tesla. Therefore, the tax credit is actually a disincentive to purchase a Tesla for those who don’t qualify for the tax credit.

Tesla can't keep it straight. My advisor called me on 6/18 and said ALL 2024 M3LR qualified for the $7500 purchase tax credit. I pointed out that was not true, only the LR with the newer (USA) battery packs. The very car he wanted me to buy was and still is listed as Lease and Business Credit only. I don't think he believed me. As far as I can tell there are no incentives to buy any new Tesla this week. Tesla's famous EOQ teases are nowhere to be seen.

Well, glad I bought an inventory '23 mYLR7 with $5050 inventory discount at the .99%. It's a bit of a humble brag, yes, but I was a bit in the fence about whether I should wait until end of quarter. Seems the model 3 refresh is moving product well enough that it makes sense for them to do this.

I think something is up with production, I ordered a Y AWD on May 29th and delivery window has now slipped from May-June to July 2-30. Why were they offering a special,APR rate if they were not able to crank out the cars?
